ABOUT THE TRAVEL RETAIL SUPERSTARS AWARDS
Welcome to the second virtual edition of the Travel Retail Superstars Awards, an annual awards for travel retail employees across airport, airline, downtown store and cruise sectors. The awards will once shine the spotlight on the thousands of frontline and behind the scenes heroes and heroines who have helped keep the industry going throughout 2021 and into this year.
Hosted by The Moodie Davitt Report, this event is run in collaboration with an advisory committee of human resource and training specialists to shape the awards.
Our advisory committee includes Marcus Griffin, Global VP, People Operations at Flash Global Logistics in the US and from 2012 until 2020 SVP/Director – Human Resources, Americas & Caribbean at Dufry; Heidi van Roon, President & Founder of the Spark Group of Companies, which provides a range of recruitment and staffing services for luxury & airport retailers and brands; and Mark Banchansky, Head of Transformation, Transformation Programme Office, Primark.
The winners of the Travel Retail Superstars Awards 2022 will be announced via Simulcast (Simultaneous transmission) through The Moodie Davitt Report website, a dedicated LinkedIn Live stream and across the Moodie Davitt Report YouTube and Twitter social feeds. The ceremony will take place at 9am CET/8am UK/3pm Hong Kong time on 15 September.
Marcus Griffin: “I’m delighted to be asked back by the Moodie Davitt Report to assist as a judge with this year’s Travel Retail Superstars Awards. These awards showcase outstanding achievements and the very best from teams and individuals who are driving the Travel Retail agenda forward as we pull away from the pandemic. The categories are designed to highlight the resourcefulness and ingenuity of the industry during these tough few years, as well as a clear focus on the recovery. I’m looking forward to reading some amazing entries!”
Heidi Van Roon: “The TR Superstars Awards continue to celebrate the strength of the human spirit and the many unique, courageous and extraordinary contributions within the travel retail family. This adaptability of the human spirit weaves the beauty, the vibrancy and the uniqueness into the skills that we apply. Whether we are offering a blanket to someone who is grieving, or carefully wrapping luxury gifts for newlyweds – our heart and soul is in what we do each day and all day long and all around the globe.
Not just the devastating blows of the global pandemic, but also the war in Ukraine, inspires this resolve to stand in solidarity and to defend that which is meaningful in our life. For this reason I look forward to another round of submissions that boldly prove that this industry makes a difference in this world and therefore how appropriate it is to honour others and to give credit where credit is due.”
Mark Banchansky:“I am very pleased to be joining both Marcus and Heidi to assist as a judge with this year’s Moodie Davitt Report’s Travel Retail Superstars Awards. Spending a decade in the Travel Retail industry was an amazing experience and both the front line staff along with those behind the scenes have been instrumental in delivering great customer service, brilliant merchandising and a caring smile.
The past few years have not been easy, and the resilience of the teams across the globe has been outstanding. As the world moves back to some sense of normalcy, we must continue to acknowledge the teams on the ground and for that reason, I am looking forward to reading through this year’s submissions and recognising great achievements.”
